“This is the start of the journey…” One of the contestants as a countdown displays on screen with a montage of shots of the training to come…

First proper shot is of the new contestants being revealed as a roller door comes up. The contestants then file into what looks to be an aircraft hangar. Why’re they trying to make them look smaller right at the start of the series!

There’s an array of TVs set up with pictures of previous contestants and they stand around in the center. Then a mysterious shadow comes strutting towards them. And the shadow is Hayley Lewis! Cue rapturous applause from everyone. Woo!

Apparently it’s not really an aircraft hangar, it’s actually where the previous Finales have all been staged. It’s looking pretty empty at the moment though.

If you’re the sort who tends to avoid any pre-show articles on The Biggest Loser you probably missed the reports that a contestant in this year’s show has been charged with possessing child pornography.

The producers of the show have made the decision to edit both him and his partner out of the show entirely, removing any references to them ever having been there. Hopefully they won’t just replace planned clips of that couple with even more repeats of earlier footage of other contestants…

Former Olympic swimmer Hayley Lewis will be hosting the new season of the show.
Hayley’s a mum of two these days and she revealed that she’s struggled a little with her own weight of late.

Apparently in the very first episode she will be setting the contestants a challenge that will span the entire season, with Hayley also participating in some fashion.
Also revealed was that Hayley will be having a lot more interaction with the contestants. In fact Hayley went to great pains to emphasise how much more involved she will be, obviously to make it clear she wasn’t going to be just a brunette-Ajay.

So. What do we think? I’ve never seen her host anything but then the woman she’s replacing had never really hosted much before either!

Just a short note to let anyone who happens to be reading this during the off season… Ch10’s The 7PM Project will have the new host of The Biggest Loser in for an interview tomorrow night!

On Ajay’s blog – attached to her ChasingOprah site – she’s explained things from her side of the fence. Everything from her “stealing” from The Biggest Loser set to the reality behind her recent court case to the supreme douchebaggery of the paparazzi, all in her own words for the first time.

The court case you saw in January 09 was not all you have read about. What you didn’t read is that I was the one who had approached Centrelink over 4 years ago, before Biggest Loser ever aired on TV and told them that, as I had slowly pieced my life back together after the tragic suicide of my mother, I discovered the possibility that I might have received payments over what I was supposed to. It happens to a lot of people or so I have been told by others in similar situations to me.

It’s a long read, but worth the trouble if you want to hear Ajay’s side of things, without the filter the media forces on everything we usually read.
