TBL 6×53: THIS IS THE END. MY ONLY FRIEND, THE END. The Biggest Loser 2011 Finale starts…

… Now!

Previously on The Biggest Loser… THE ENTIRE SERIES.

Tonight! The culmination of the past 12 weeks blood, sweat and tears. And also the efforts of the contestants on the show!
All the game playing and strategy and temptations and tantrums are over. It’s time to talk turkey. Who’s lost the most weight, by percentage, since Day One?

And just how sexy is Lara going to be?

It’s time to find out! Welcome to The Biggest Loser Families Finale.

Before we get going with this year’s crop we get a quick montage of the successes of previous years… followed by another montage of this year’s contenders at the start of their journeys.

The trainers visited their families for a week at the start of things this year. Living a week in the lives of their new families. I bet Michelle’s super happy to see herself puking her guts out again!

And the recap montage just keeps going. Honestly, you should’ve been watching if you care about this. Or reading recaps. Or hitting fast forward to get to the bit where they finally weigh in. SIGH.

Leigh, Emma, Kellie and Sarah are fighting for the major title, for those who’ve forgotten already. But there’s also a prize for whichever family has lost the most weight overall, too.
Not sure if there’ll also be an Eliminated Contestants prize again. Hasn’t been mentioned that I can recall, but they usually offer them a carrot of some kind.

First family specific catchup is with the Westrens. Wow. I’d forgotten how big they were at the start.
Westrens were made up of two couples, Craig and Sharlene are Leigh’s parents and Leigh’s partner Lara was part of the other couple in the family.

And after all the footage is done, here’s Craig, Sharlene and Lara… Oh, wow. Lara is breathtaking in a sparkly figure hugging blue dress. Craig looks great in a dark top and light pants, he’s looking very fit and slender.
Sharlene’s even looking great in a sparkly silver long dress with a wrap over her shoulders.
But the clear winner in the group is Lara. She looks amazing. Seriously, can’t believe it!

Hayley says they’ve found Australia’s answer to George Clooney in Craig, now.
Craig’s glad he didn’t leave, as he’d thought about doing at one stage. He was on heart medication before coming on the show and now he’s not on any medication at all and he’s feeling years younger.

Hayley says Lara’s one of the most athletic females they’ve ever had on the show. And she came on the show with her partner and her maybe parents in-law, but she was the glue that held them together. Lara says she didn’t think the Westrens would last five minutes and Sharlene was looking for a way out in the first training session. But look at them now!

Hayley says Sharlene looks beautiful. And she’s made a big physical change but an even bigger change in her attitude.
Sharlene always liked being in charge beforehand and she says she’s still in charge now! But she says it with a grin on her face now, where before she was super serious and not taking any guff from Shannan about it!

And now it’s time to see Leigh’s arrival back home and they’re all packed into the Westren family home. Lara jumps on him and gives him a big kiss. She says he hopes the new Leigh sticks around because he’s SPUNKY. Craig says he loves Leigh (awww!) and Emma gets a hug and a kiss from her brother.

As we come back from another break we’re treated to a montage of… Meg eating a bunch of foods at Temptations!
It’s time to catch up with what The Duncans were like at the start!

Until Tiffiny turned them into NINJA WARRIORS!

Sarah-Jayne, Meg and Jarrod all do their bow of respect as they come out from behind the doors.
SJ’s looking pretty good. She’s still chubby but it’s a far cry from where she started.
Meg’s looking pretty good in a long flowing blue dress. SJ’s dress is just… awful.
Jarrod’s looking very skinny but I strongly suspect he’s wearing a girdle since the curve of his body doesn’t look natural.

SJ has cut way back on the drinking and not eating pasta anymore and feeling a lot better.
Meg’s looking very girly tonight and Hayley says nobody would ever guess she’s a truck driver! And Meg says she’s enjoying getting dolled up now. She’s had fun having girly time with her sisters.

Now it’s time to see The Moons. Gawd, they were all so huge.
Lots of crying and complaining in their montage. And Mr Voiceover Man says The Commando couldn’t save them from being below the Line a staggering nine times!
Jodie was the first Moon eliminated though and it was from a direct elimination, rather than a vote. They survived as an entire family for far longer than any other team.

And now it’s time to see Rebecca and Jodie. Both girls are in sparkly blue dresses. Jodie’s is off one shoulder, Rebecca’s has no shoulders.
Both look pretty good, too, it has to be said. Rebecca’s got some serious curves going on!

Jodie feels fantastic and it was a lifechanging experiences.
Hayley says to Rebecca that it was probably a lot of girl’s dreams, being trained by The Commando, but there was a lot of times when Rebecca would say to Hayley that she hates him because he’s so mean! But she confesses she has a lot of respect for him now. And it was a bit of eye candy!

Now it’s time for Emma’s return home. Though she’d barely really left, since she returned to the game right near the end anyway!
She’s very excitedly talking to her husband about having lots of tiny babies though. He seems excited so clearly he’s had the required lobotomy!

Time for The Challenors! They were the biggest lads in the history of the game. Damien was the heaviest competitor ever!

The Challenors of course have all been eliminated so they’re all behind the door for their reveal.
Greg’s still fat. No two ways about it. He does, however, look a lot better than the last time we saw him.
Nathaniel looks just like any regular lanky dorky looking teenage kid. You wouldn’t know he was grossly obese not 12 weeks ago!
Damien, of course, is still very heavy. He was never going to get skinny in time for Finale. He does look a hell of a lot healthier than he did at the start though. Walking around without any dramas at all, just like a solid looking fella.
Joe’s skinny! Of course. He was already getting that way before leaving and he’s obviously kept up the hard work on the outside.

Damien’s life on the outside has been very different. His son was having to tie his shoes for him before, but his toes are getting a lot of TLC now!

Joe’s learned a lot about himself in his time at Camp. He’s changed a lot, personality-wise, as well, Hayley intimates. The crowd gives a fairly unenthusiastic round of applause for him.

Greg’s biggest obstacle was always himself, Hayley says. Montage of Greg giving up and flailing around like an idiot. Greg’s got a grin on his face when we come back to the “Live” footage. Greg says it was getting boring on TV, he had to inject some comedy!

Hayley then has some exciting news for the Eliminated Contestants – out of six seasons so far they’ve lost the highest percentage of weight on average. Good stuff!

Now it’s time for… the Trainers!
“Make the bad food go away make the bad food go away!”
Tiffiny says her first series of The Biggest Loser has been an adventure. But so much fun!
Steve says he had a team of four women. Enough said! He’s not used to dealing with so much emotional baggage.
Michelle’s then getting frustrated at her own family’s baggage!

Shannan says it’s great to transform the life of one person but changing the lives of a whole family is taking it to a new level.

Mish says that every year she looks back on their trials and tribulations but is always so pleased at what the contestants manage to achieve.

Now Shannan, Tiffiny, Michelle and Steve come out from behind the door.
Shannan’s got a dark casual suit with a black t-shirt on underneath.
Tiffiny has a sparkly white dress, Michelle has sparkly blue-ish dress. Steve’s in a proper business suit! Looks super spiffy.

Tiffiny says she’s not had pasta since the “pasta disaster” with her Duncans. She loved them right from the start but it was hard, that first week.

Michelle could feel her body changing from eating all the bad food and not exercising.

Hayley asks Steve what it was like to work with a bunch of girls and Steve says the footage they just showed was enough, surely? But it’s been a friendship forged out of hardship. And Shannan says Steve’s learned to throw a cuddle around, too. Much to the amusement of everyone!
Someone in the crowd as a “Take Off Your Shirt Commando” sign they keep showing. Bwahahaha!

Time for a PAINFUL MONTAGE!

Hayley then confirms there’s a $20,000 prize for the Eliminated Contestant with the biggest weightloss.
And now it’s time for them all to come out in their Biggest Loser gear.
Damien’s legs still look pretty bloody scary, I must say.

Challenors will be the first to weigh in on the scales. One at a time. Not sure if they’ll reweigh them all for the Family prize.

Joe Start: 139.8kg
Joe Current: 93.2kg
Joe Loss: 46.6kg
Joe Percentage: 33.33%

Exactly a third of his body weight. Which is exactly a poor loss and will win him exactly nothing!

Greg needs to have lost at least 59.1kg. He won’t’ve done that, of course.

Greg Start: 177.2kg
Greg Current: 138.8kg
Greg Loss: 38.4kg
Greg Percentage: 21.67%

Disappointing, but for a Week One eliminee he’s not done too badly.

Damien needs at least 78.2kg to beat Joe.

Damien Start: 234.4kg
Damien Current: 152.8kg
Damien Loss: 81.6kg
Damien Percentage: 34.81%

It’s probably not going to be enough to win but he’s lost more than 80kg! That’s INSANE!

Nathaniel needs at least 49.5kg. Which he almost had just before he was eliminated, I think?

Nathaniel Start: 142kg
Nathaniel Current: 89.5kg
Nathaniel Loss: 52.5kg
Nathaniel Percentage: 36.97%

Nathaniel is now in first place! And the best of the Challenors, despite his uncles being bastards. Hooray!

Next up will be The Moons. Probably no threat to Nathaniel here.

Jodie Start: 106.5kg
Jodie Current: 75.6kg
Jodie Loss: 30.9kg
Jodie Percentage: 29.01%

Rebecca needs 42.6kg to beat Nathaniel. She might actually have that in her, she’s looking pretty good as she steps onto the scales.

Rebecca Start: 115.2kg
Rebecca Current: 74.8kg
Rebecca Loss: 40.4kg
Rebecca Percentage: 35.07%

Close, but not quite!

Next up, The Duncans. Nate is doomed!

Sarah-Jayne needs 45.6kg to beat Nathaniel.

Sarah-Jayne Start: 123.3kg
Sarah-Jayne Current: 73.6kg
Sarah-Jayne Loss: 49.5kg
Sarah-Jayne Percentage: 40.15%

She’s in the lead!

Jarrod needs 57.7kg to beat SJ.

Jarrod Start: 143.3kg
Jarrod Current: 101.3kg
Jarrod Loss: 42kg
Jarrod Percentage: 29.31%

Not good enough.

Now it’s Meg’s turn. She’ll need at least 55.1kg. Think she might have that!

Meg Start: 137kg
Meg Current: 79.7kg
Meg Loss: 57.3kg
Meg Percentage: 41.82%

Yep, she’s got it! She gives the bow of respect to Tiffiny and SJ’s very excited for her too. And she got into the 70s as well!

Only three people to go. But those three are the all conquering Westrens…

But first, Kellie and Sarah return home.
“Mummy look beautiful!” One of Kellie’s kids says.
Sarah’s girlfriend is very happy and proud of her. Big hugs, awww!

Craig’s first to weigh in. Nobody cares how much weight he has to have lost because he won’t win!

Craig Start: 120.1kg
Craig Current: 73.2kg
Craig Loss: 46.9kg
Craig Percentage: 39.05%

Geez, he’s not far off Meg, despite being eliminated so long ago!

Lara needs at least 44.8kg. So she’s got this in the bag.

Lara Start: 107.1kg
Lara Current: 66.8kg
Lara Loss: 40.3kg
Lara Percentage: 37.63%

Well, that was unexpected. And disappointing!
But she looks stunning so I doubt she’s too bothered.

Sharlene needs at least 47.4kg. She shakes her head. I dunno, she’s looking pretty thin now.

Sharlene Start: 113.3kg
Sharlene Current: 64.8kg
Sharlene Loss: 48.5kg
Sharlene Percentage: 42.81%

Sharlene is winner! $20,000 is the first prize the Westrens win for the night! She jumps on Meg for a hug and onto Shannan for a hug and hugs Craig and Lara.
Emma squeals from the audience in excitement. Hee!
Sharlene runs off the stage to hug Emma as Hayley throws to the break.

And now it’s time to see the Final Four revealed.
Kellie first. And a reminder of just how awful her life was before coming on the show. Steve can’t even look at her too often.
Steve says Kellie started out as the quiet one of the family, but once she found that fire inside her she really picked things up.

Please welcome… wait, is that really Kellie? No way! Chick be skinny! Pretty and sparkly off the shoulder red dress. She’s looking fantastic and very ladylike, rather than like the Mum she always looked like before.
Kellie says she’s not felt like this since she was a teenager. She’s got her life back and she has Steve and her home trainer Jason to thank for that.
She says it was hard to be away from her family but it’s been so very worth it.

Next up, a look at Sarah’s time on the show.
Steve says Sarah’s been one of his biggest chances. She was always looking for excuses and her fitness improved slowly. It took a lot of guidance but she never gave up, he says. And the makeover was the turning point for her. That’s when she realised it was really working.
And as she steps out from behind the doors in her little black dress she’s actually looking quite pretty! Which is a huge change in itself!
Sarah says the Sydney to Hobart race was when she got a lot happier with herself and really kicked things into gear.

Then Hayley makes reference to her many facial expressions and noises in training and Sarah says she hopes we all enjoyed the faces she pulled.
Sarah thanks Steve for his work and refers to making Steve get his shirt off, much to the delight of the audience.

And is she surprised to be in the final? Hayley then apologises and says that that was of course her plan! Sarah does an evil laugh and puts a finger to her mouth and says yes, totally her plan!

Leigh’s turn for a trip down memory lane.
Leigh wasn’t man enough to get married, Shannan says, way back near the start. But Leigh’s confidence started to grow as he got fitter and stronger and Leigh made Shannan prouder every week.
Shannan says Leigh deserves to be in the Final Four because he’s played the game with respect and integrity.

Time for Leigh to come out from behind the doors and DUDE IS SKINNY. Seriously, he’s looking very sharp in his vest and tie that matches his shirt colour.
Hayley says to him, “Hey spunky!” She says he’s made one of the most staggering physical transformations.
Was it hard being at Camp with his Mum and Dad? In the same room? He says it was hard, yes. They did bond a lot, but they also fought a lot, as families do.
Leigh thought he’d get to 100kg and be happy but seeing the footage when he was still overweight, they reassessed.
And how was it, Shannan telling him to man up all the time? Leigh says he was ready to bash Shannan at one point over it and he does a very passable impersonation of Shannan’s way of saying it. But he said it’s all good!

And now, Emma. Emma had piled on a bunch of weight over five years and she was in a lot of trouble before coming on the show.
Emma also fought her way back onto the show after having been eliminated. And she’s done it tough, losing most of her weight on the outside, rather than inside like many of them.

And then Emma comes out from behind the door and she’s wearing a very tight, very shiny little black dress that is giving Lara a serious run for her money in the hotness department!
Emma wanted to do well on the outside because SJ and Jarrod had done so well on the outside and also because she knew Meg was still at Camp fighting hard, so it kept her going.
And how’s the babymaking coming, Hayley asks. Hahahahaha.
Emma gets a bit tongue tied and says she thinks she’ll keep the body a bit longer yet and maybe towards the end of the year they’ll start thinking more seriously about babies.

After another ad break Hayley says if you’re a fat family and want to change your life you should go to the official website. So I guess 2012 Loser will be families, too?

Sarah’s going to be first to weigh in. Presumably so she can have a turn on the winner podium.

Sarah Start: 150.5kg
Sarah Current: 100.7kg
Sarah Loss: 49.8kg
Sarah Percentage: 33.09%

Obviously won’t be enough to win and she has to be a little disappointed not to make it under the 100kg mark. But she’s done quite well overall!

Kellie needs to have lost at least 42.3kg to topple Sarah. And looking at her, I’d say she’s done that pretty easily!

Kellie Start: 127.7kg
Kellie Current: 78.5kg
Kellie Loss: 49.2kg
Kellie Percentage: 38.53%

Well done Kellie!

Emma will need to have lost at least 51.6kg. I think she’s probably got that. You know. With ease and stuff.

Emma Start: 133.9kg
Emma Current: 71.8kg
Emma Loss: 62.1kg
Emma Percentage: 46.38%

Emma into first place by a goodly margin.

But can Leigh topple her? Find out after ANOTHER BLOODY AD BREAK.

Leigh will need to have lost at least 60.4kg to outdo Emma. That’s… going to be tough.

Leigh Start: 130.1kg
Leigh Current: 72.4kg
Leigh Loss: 57.7kg
Leigh Percentage: 44.38%

EMMA WINS! A second female winner in a row and a win for brand new trainer Tiffiny Hall on top of that!
She’s very excited and there’s lots of bouncing around and hugging between the girls and boys of the Duncan clan, including Tiffiny!

Emma says her life is so much different now. She thought she was happy when she started but she was lying to herself. She’s a lot happier now.
Tiffiny’s so proud of Emma losing a lot of the weight on the outside while Tiff and Meg were slogging it out back at Camp. She’s a warrior and a ninja!

But it’s not quite over. There’s still $100,000 to award to the family who’s lost the most weight. Time for them to weigh in as families!

Moon Start: 499.9kg
Moon Current: 329.6kg
Moon Loss: 170.3kg
Moon Percentage: 34.07%

Barely a third, won’t be anywhere near enough to be competitive.

Challenor’s need 236.3kg to get past the Moons. Which ought to be easy!

Challenor Start: 693.4kg
Challenor Current: 474.3kg
Challenor Loss: 219.1kg
Challenor Percentage: 31.60%

Wow, they couldn’t even beat the all-girl Moon team. That’s so pathetic!

Duncans need 183.2kg to move into first place.

Duncan Start: 537.5kg
Duncan Current: 326.6kg
Duncan Loss: 210.9kg
Duncan Percentage: 39.24%

So much weight!
And now if the Duncans can stay in first place they win not only the $100,000 but a bonus $100,000 for having Emma win overall!

Westren Start: 470.6kg
Westren Current: 277.2kg
Westren Loss: 193.4kg
Westren Percentage: 41.10%

ALL CONQUERING WESTRENS AGAIN! They’re all screaming and hugging and Shannan comes running over to join in the hugging love. Awwww!

So the winners are…

Biggest Loser 2011: Emma Duncan!
Biggest Loser Eliminee 2011: Sharlene Westren
Biggest Loser Family 2011: The Westrens

As expected the Duncans and Westrens dominated the competition as they have dominated throughout… but Emma winning overall is a surprise and she should be extremely proud of herself!

And that wraps it for another year of The Biggest Loser and another year of the Recap. It’s been another crazy but fun year!
It sounds like the show will be back in 2011 and barring anything dramatic, the Recap will be back too.

I may post my own wrapup of this year’s show in the next couple of days, but in any event I hope you all enjoyed this little recappers crazy ramblings again this year and I hope to see you all again in another 8 or so months!
Thankyou and goodnight. :-)
