The Biggest Loser 2009 – Couples Edition

For all the googlers arriving at this post, the new season has started! Go to the front page of The Biggest Loser Recap and start reading!

Many of you have probably already seen the ads on Channel 10 for this, but for those who have not it has been announced that The Biggest Loser 2009 will be a “Couples” version of the show.

So that they don’t have a procession of annoying husband and wife teams of fatties, they’ve opened it up to a fairly loose interpretation of the word. Brother and sister teams are okay (though I’d imagine they’d frown on brother-sister husband and wife teams) as well Mums and sons, even work mate teams are permitted… As are grandparent/grandchild teams.

I’m a little horrified at the thought of the last one, I don’t mind telling you.

Applications are now being accepted via the website, so if you know two fat people, suggest they roll over that way? I’m sure that will make them love you all the more!

I believe if you go to the official site you can also see the ad with Shannan and Michelle touting the new season applications, but you should really try to catch it on TV for yourself so that you too can experience the hilarity of Shannan mouthing Michelle’s lines.

He still has a ways to go when it comes to presenting for the televisions.

Thanks for the update. I already wondered if there would be a new edition soon. I saw the Couples-Version of the United States. It's was even less about the weight loss and more, more, more about the personal drama. Oh well. Let's see how this one will work out …

How are you Mythor ! Looking forward to the new season.. Thank goodness BB is over ! I think couples are going to be great, I'm disappointed in the marketing for the new season though. Shannon is clearly reading and Channel 10 haven't made a huge effort to gather interest. The official forum is still quiet and last year when the applications were almost closing it was a lot busier. I believe they left their run a little too late. They should have announced the new season at the finale . In any event, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out ! I hope they've bombed that warehouse though !

I have a suspicion the Couples version of the show will be quite different to what we're used to so far. The ratings for S3 slipped a little on S2 and S1 and as you know a lot of people doubted it would be back for S4. To me that points to them changing things around a fair bit and potentially not having it every week night, thus eliminating things like The Warehouse and so forth.

Maybe I should start a discussion post on that!

I'm not sure when the applications close but I saw the ads getting run quite a bit towards the end of BB and if past seasons are any indication I doubt they'll be hard pressed to find willing victims/participants. ;)

I recapped one of the Couples editions from the US. Was only two sets of couples in that one though, I get the impression the Australian one is going to have maybe a half dozen couples, maybe eight even.
Should be interesting to see what direction they take it.

I PERSONALLY THINK THIS IS THE BEST BIGGEST LOSER OF ALL AJ'S CUT THE FAT DRIVES ME NUTS BUT THE SHOWS TWISTS AND TURNS ARE GREAT…ALTHOUGH I THINK THE PRODUCERS WHIPPED SOME EXTRA ONES IN TO KEEP NATHAN AND ANDREW IN AS THEY ARE THE INSPIRATIONAL FORCE BEHIND ALL THE OTHER CONTESTANTS..WELL DONE CHANNEL TEN..KEEP THIS FORMAT GOING..WOULD LIEK TO KNOWTHE RATINGS FOR THIS SERIES

AJ must like Nathan and Andrew a lot, beacause he just got eliminated and now he might back in the show again!
I hope Amanda and Sean get back in again. Because they brought a lot of inspration to me. Amanda has lost a great deal of weight and I hope she gets back in. Sean buddy where ever you are your farther will always be proud of you. You showed him what you can do and what you are really made of. Keep up the great work.
