Spoiler alert #42571!

The ads for this week’s Biggest Loser contain a wee bit of a spoiler for something that is going to happen this week. If you enjoy knowing such things, read on and I’ll tell you what the ad reveals!

The ad says that Monday night’s elimination will be the most dramatic ever and rah rah rah, which we all “know”. But then on Tuesday night they will once again be having an eliminated contestant return to the game right at the death for another chance at the big prize.

Presumably, (Marty) this will be decided by (Marty) who has lost the most weight (Marty) since leaving the show (Marty) but perhaps not.

It would put the remaining three original contestants in an interesting spot, since they’ll have to hate on both the two Outsiders and the one returned contestant. And if it is Marty that gets returned for a third bite at the cherry? The fur is going to fly, I suspect!

Regardless, as much as I’d love to see someone like Alex return to the game, this is unfair on the remaining contestants when heaped upon all the other crap they’ve been dealing with this season. It wasn’t particularly fair when they did it last season, but they’ve been pulling stunts like that throughout this season and it was sort of assumed that repeating last season’s stunt would not be necessary. Considering the outrage last year that resulted in Adro being returned to the finale as part of a final four, instead of a final three, it seems ridiculous that they’re going to do the exact same thing this year…

Yeah the three that picked the lowest calorie items had to weigh in again.

    Cat lost 1kg
    Jo lost 2kg (i think)
    Harry lost about 10kg

    so Harry returned.
  • Oooooooh, right, yes, I remember that now! I don't remember it being part of how the returnee was selected but will take your word for it. :D

Yeah, you can't blame the contestants too much for who they vote for in legitimate eliminations, not when you stack it up against what the producers have been doing. Need to get their shit together for next season!

from memory, they made them do some big long trek across sand dunes or something, and when they got to the end, they had to pick food much like they did at the end of the paradise challenge...i remember coz cat was in with a chance because she was awesome at picking calories :)

indeed...while some of the choices people made in elimination have definitely sucked, they've at least been largely fair choices. damien and p'eta were booted for things that weren't even relevant to how much weight they'd lost. stupid tbl people :(

Yeah, she definitely got the worst of all the eliminations. I still don't like Damien's though, because getting one calorie choice wrong is fine for a weight penalty, but pretty poor reason for instant elimination :|

Yup, the US idea was much better. Even if they'd had a guy and a girl from each Aussie state, the pool would've been smaller, but it would've seemed a more sensible idea and outcome.

And meanwhile channel 10 is actually bringing BB back for another season. Le sigh.
  • Oh did they? I forgot how they decided it. Hopefully they'll do that again. I still like Marty but three bites at the cherry would be getting more than a little ridiculous...

P'eta coming back would be groovy too, because of what Tara said above about her elimination sucking.
  • Damien or P'eta would be good choices indeed. P'eta's "elimination" was by far the worst, since it was just one other contestant deciding. Damien was at least in control of his own fate to some extent and was eliminated because he chose wrong. At least he had a chance, P'eta didn't. :-(

I didn't mind the US outsider bit quite so much because there was a huge pool of people who all had to train on their own for the most part and the best two got to join the house. Whereas the Australian one the two were preselected and they got regular training sessions with the second string trainer, Commando Steve.
If they were good enough to be "Outsiders" they should have been in the house from the start?

Yes, the show is popular for reasons unrelated to the Big Brother aspects so to introduce more of those bits is, if anything, going to cut down on its popularity, not increase it.

i was kinda hoping for this...gives me an excuse to hope that p'eta comes back :D and last year, they decided the returning contestant from a challenge that involved physical stuff and calorie-counting stuff, so hopefully it isn't marty for a shoe-in. quite sick of marty -_-

You know, I think my biggest issue with all the 'twists' is that they brought Chris and Kimberlie in far too late. If you add together the *obvious* outcome of them going into the house after being outside (great initial weight loss) and the fact that they had initial immunity, there's not much chance at all to get rid of them before the final three. I seem to remember the US outsiders coming in a lot earlier in the game - although I could be remembering wrong. I just know that it was far easier for the US originals to boot them out.

Bringing someone back AGAIN is ridiculous unless that someone is Damien or P'eta simply because the way they were both eliminated is far worse than the annoyance of someone coming back again.

Gah. I wish they'd remember they're not Big Brother :/
