Recap #39 – Tuesday 20th March – The Outsiders enter the house!

“The outsiders!” Ooooh! Are horrible mutants from the radiation filled wasteland about to invade the white house and eat all the fatties?!

Read on to find out!

Everyone files back into the weigh-in room. Again. Everyone’s nervous. Again. Nobody knows what’s going to happen. Still.
Marty thinks perhaps they’re bringing some more evictees back to make up some new duos. Munnalita sees a big TV screen and figures something is going to be shown.
Courtney’s just thinking hurry up Ajay, hurry up hurry up hurry up!

Ajay says they’ve been there for 7 weeks at this point. Munnalita says it’s been hard work, Pati thought her first weigh-in was shocking. Was difficult for Damien, it was very emotional.
“What is about to unfold has never occurred before. On the day that you arrived in this house, in this very room, a secret event took place. It is now time for you to find out what happened.”
Big screen rolls down from the ceiling as Ajay tells them their world as they know it is about to change.

Two fatties stroll into view on the screen, blonde chick with long hair, big dude with big manboobs is with her.
Their names are Kimberlie and Chris. I assume Kimberlie is the girl but there’s no way to know!
But they’re now going to “become part of the game” Ajay tells us.
“Ohhh, you bastards.” – Courtney in an aside.
Pati is gobsmacked, pissed her off, ticked her off.
Courtney feels angry and cheated, Laura thinks they can’t do this to them now!

Kimberlie and Chris will continue to live in their own houses as their secret contestants. They’re there on the first day to record their official starting weights, then return to the outside world.
Guy is Chris! He felt like it was a bit of a covert operation, ooh!
Chris is 23, a student, mining engineering.

His problem is he has a lot of beers and has pizza with his mates… but he always ends up eating more than his mates.
His sister has noticed him getting more depressed as his weight has gone up. His Dad has Type 2 diabetes, and Chris doesn’t want to end up like his Dad. He feels like he’s a young guy but with the body of a 50 year old, or even worse!
He’s expecting he weighs about 135kg.
He actually weighs: 149.5kg
Ouch!
(There was an interlude between his weight reveal where Courtney tells us he’s feeling cheated and pissed, again.)
Chris says he’s gone too far, but it’s a good place to start. He thinks his downfall will be his social life, he’s going to quit drinking to start with, but he’ll also have to say no to a lot of food and so on. He’s doing it for his Dad! He should get along great with Laura.

Kimberlie’s turn next. She’s 32, runs her family business, chief financial officer. She can run a multimillion dollar company but she can’t control what she puts in her mouth. If it wasn’t the family business, people might wonder how you got such a highly sought position after saying that!
When she was a wee thing, she wasn’t allowed to sit on Santa’s lap because she was too big, she’s basically never been skinny in her life.
She’s been told she’d be a pretty girl if she’d lost weight.
In her wedding photos she’s the largest, she doesn’t own a bikini, only one pieces. She’s not happy with her body naked, and I don’t think anyone else is. She’s showing it off in front of an uncovered window, too! You can see people out on the street in the background!

Her starting weight is: 141.8kg
Pretty darn big. She looks really upset up on the podium.
Her weakness is eating out with the girls, glasses of wine and so on. She thinks it’ll be difficult on the outside because the people in the house won’t have the temptations she’s going to face.
Ajay asks her if she’s going to be able to resist the temptation and she says she’s tried before and it’s really hard work!
But she doesn’t believe the only place you can lose weight is inside the house, she’s determined to prove you can do it outside.

Ajay tells them it’ll be hard on the outside alone, so they’re going to have help.

COMMANDO STEVE!!!

All the existing Fatties gasp and are shocked, etc.
Kimberlie and Chris are pretty intimidated. Chris says he looked at them like he wanted to rip parts of them off. And Steve says he was thinking that a bit, yeah!
He’s going to have them doing gym sessions and outdoor workouts to give them a good chance of actually winning once they get back inside the house.
He’s going to work them so hard they’re going to wish they’d never taken on the challenge.
Marty and Damien know what the Commando is like and realise they could come out of it very tough competitors. All Courtney could think was, “Oh, you poor bastards.”

Commando Steve brings them to an Army barracks for their first training session. Their first session was carrying some tires and jerrycans and so on back and forth over the parade ground. Then some jumping over tires and crawling under the nets.
Kimberlie reveals during this that her marriage breakdown was hard, Steve doesn’t need to break her back down, just build her up.
Chris finds his weight annoying, though he doesn’t let on.
Steve is pushing them quite hard in their first session to find out what they’re capable of.
He thinks Chris actually has a fair bit of fitness, but because he’s young he really needs to work on the mental side of things. Kimberlie is a hard worker, has done some training before, and he thinks she has what it takes to win the biggest loser.

Chris says he thinks Steve’s tough style will work well for him. Kimberlie is hoping Steve will keep her motivated.
Courtney, Damien, Laura all say that they’ve had it easy, haven’t had to face 7 weeks worth of eliminations and all the other dramas. They seem very unimpressed!

Munnalita knows that if anyone can stay training with the Commando they’ve got to be very tough competitors.

Steve’s pushing them hard in training, he doesn’t think Chris is up to scratch.
Kimberlie says when she’s running, she feels it in her knees and her backside. Steve is disappointed with her, not putting in 110% all the time. Kimberlie doesn’t think she can make him happy yet because she just doesn’t have the fitness levels yet. That’s why you’re training so hard now, doofus!

They’re up to Week 2 of their training and Steve says they’re paying a huge toll for their lazy lifestyle.
Chris is a bit disappointed in Kimberlie, since she’s moving along at her own pace, not pushing herself. She doesn’t see the point in pushing so hard and killing her so she can’t do anything next week.
Now he has them carrying logs. Steve loves his logs!

Kimberlie says family gatherings are hard because of all the temptations around her, lots of nice junk food and so on.
Chris is doing better, living in a bachelor pad, he’s cooking a lot of veggies with rice, since he can’t go to the kebab shop anymore. And he’s not having beers with dinner anymore, just water!

Kimberlie goes off for a holiday to Fiji, something it sounds like she does a lot. Usually she’d have bacon and sausages and eggs and so on for breakfast, now she has weet bix with skim milk! She says it’s teaching her she can go there and eat healthy and so on.
Next up is a bit where she reiterates that the people inside the house don’t have the temptations they have and so she thinks they’re actually doing it a lot harder and if the people inside the house think the outsiders have it easy, they’re kidding themselves! Cue shot of Damien smiling evilly and shaking his head and the other fatties looking similarly unimpressed! Courtney thinks their journey has been much easier.
Pati says yes they’ve had temptations and so on, but bring it on, it’s easy compared to what they’ve been going through inside the house!

Kimberlie says they’ve been doing a lot of stairs, bush, grass, dirt, flipping tires through the sand and waves on the beach. Carrying Steve, pushing Steve. Apparently Steve doesn’t like to walk, Kimberlie’s helping him a lot!
Chris is feeling himself getting stronger and fitter.
Kimberlie’s bitching out the way the treadmill just goes on and on.
Chris is much more impressed a couple of weeks in with Kimberlie, she’s improved a lot and is now snapping at his heels.
Kimberlie is looking forward to getting into the house because on the outside it’s not “real”, once they’re in, they’re in the game.

Steve is confident one of his outsiders will win the game, because he wants them to!
Another bit of training is the two outsiders tugging on a rope. Against just Steve. And Steve’s not even losing by much!

Kimberlie and Chris turn up at the House at last. Both knew it would be hard, not knowing how the existing contestants would take their joining the game.
Everyone in the weigh-in room is a bit worried. Pati says she thought they were down to the nittygritty.
Lots of nervous tension, Damien tells us.
Courtney says he felt cheated, and felt all the people who had gone before were cheated too, because new people were going to walk in the door.

As they walk in, Chris looks to have lost a lot more weight than Kimberlie, though she’s looking much better too.
Courtney thinks as Chris walks in that he’s probably lost about 40kg!
Chris is just trying to make a good impression. Kimberlie wouldn’t've been surprised if they’d thrown tomatoes at them!
Ajay welcomes them. The Fatties don’t.

Marty eventually breaks ranks and says welcome. No one echoes his welcome though.

Kimberlie says they haven’t known how they’re going since starting because Steve doesn’t let them know, they just record the number and move on.
Kimberlie’s current weight: 121.5kg LOSS: 20.3kg
Very impressive. Courtney gives her a “Well done!” and Marty congratulates her. Everyone else thinks it’s terrific too.
She would love to know what it feels like to be a regular size. She feels like she can get there now. Her highest weight was 176.6kg! She never thought she’d ever get back down to what she weighs now.
She says she understands people’s apprehension at their introduction, she can’t change what happened or how the Fatties feel about her. She was given the opportunity to do it as an Outsider, she wasn’t given the chance to be inside the house, so she took what she could. Which is a good point, you can’t blame the Outsiders for this, go mental at the producers!

Chris steps up next, very anxiously, wanting to see if his hard work had paid off. Pati thinks it has because he looks a shadow of the guy who first weighed in!
Chris’ current weight: 118.2kg LOSS: 31.3kg
Crikey! That’s right up there with the people who’ve been inside the house, very well done. Marty, at 38.1kg, is very impressed. Courtney sees him as a threat immediately.
Chris is just happy all the pain and training have started to pay off! He has a lot more motivation now, doesn’t hit the gym every morning, but most mornings. Phase one is over, starting phase two he’s going to keep ready for anything!
Ajay asks him if he thinks he could be The Biggest Loser and Chris says he wouldn’t've entered to try and come second!

All the Fatties are looking everywhere but at the newbies.
Ajay takes the opportunity to compare everyone now in the game
8th: Laura 14.8kg 13.55%
7th: Kimberlie 20.3kg 14.32%
6th: Damien 41.8kg 19.33%
5th: Pati 23.9kg 19.88%
4th: Courtney 28kg 20.11%
3rd: Chris 31.3kg 20.94%
2nd: Munnalita 29.4kg 23.1%
1st: Marty 38.1kg 23.72%

Munnalita is a bit concerned because she thinks it makes her a target. I think her evil nastiness makes her more of a target but whatever.

Ajay then announces that for the newbies first week in the house, they’ll be given immunity from elimination.
“That’s fucking bullshit.” – Courtney. Everyone seems to be agreeing with him for perhaps the first time ever. Even I’m agreeing with them. Let them earn their place on their own merits!
Kimberlie feels horrible because of the looks on the others’ faces, but happy because they want immunity.
But Ajay warns them that immunity could be taken away anyway.

They finally head out of the weigh-in room for their first group chat. Munnalita asks Courtney to tone himself down a bit when they get out.
First there’s handshakes and kisses and introductions all round. Courtney thinks everyone will be friendly to their face but maybe not so friendly behind their backs.
First questions centre around what training they’ve been doing with Steve. Then the newbies put their foots in it by asking how everyone feels about it all. Marty’s not too concerned, though he says in his aside that he’s kind of excited because it doesn’t sound like they’re going to take shit from anyone, which might start some catfights!
Kimberlie’s trying to explain that they feel like they’ve done the hard yards just like everyone else. Damien explains to them that they’ve had a huge advantage over all the people who were eliminated because they haven’t had the option of being eliminated.
Chris says in his aside that Damien is absolutely right. Kimberlie says in her aside that they’ve not had to live in the real world, so imagine training real hard and then having to go to work!
Courtney says that it’s nothing personal and it’s nice to see new faces… but he feels like they’ve had an easy ride in. Laura thinks Courtney did good by saying that because they’re all probably thinking it.

Damien takes Chris off for a tour of the house because it’s such a big place to explore.
Chris is shown the BBQ and he kind of scoffs, saying they can’t really BBQ a salad or anything and Damien sets him straight, telling him they actually do eat meat still and have been putting the barbie to use on occasion and so on. He says they actually eat quite well and still get results.
Munnalita, Pati and Courtney head off for a private chat. They’re all really impressed by Chris’ progress. Pati says she’s feeling really fucking cheated.
Courtney has a side thing saying they haven’t been through all the blood sweat and tears the Fatties have been through. Then back with Pati and Munnalita he says the newbies seem to be thinking of the house as a retreat, they’re going to come in there and lose weight and it’ll all be great. “Bull. Shit!”

Laura is meanwhile taking Kimberlie around the house. Kimberlie’s in a room with Chris, Damien and Marty, apparently.

Munnalita thinks the best way to go is try to get the newbies on their side to help them get through to the next stage of the game. She wants to try and rein in Courtney’s attitude and be all nice with them, which doesn’t sit well with Courtney at all, and I can’t say I blame him. Pretending to be people you’re not is one of the reasons why you’re despised, Munnalita…
Courtney’s having none of it though. “These people aren’t celebrities!” He’s not going to be like Marty, he’s not going to be an actor.

Shannan and Michelle arrive today and… are a bit shocked because there’s 8 bodies in the DVD room instead of 6! They knew nothing of the Outsiders until this point and they’re quite surprised at the new people.
“Jeepers, nice to meet you guys!” – Michelle
Shannan wants to know who they’ve been training with, and the newbies say they’ve been training with the Commando since the first day. Four hours a day for six weeks, the entire time they’ve been in the house.

Shannan and Michelle are both really impressed with Kimberlie’s number. And Chris’. Especially considering they’re still going to work on the outside. Shannan thinks they’ve proven they’ve earned the right to be in the house.
Michelle seems unimpressed because she’d rather see everyone from Week 1 in the final, not new people being introduced at various stages.

Michelle already has a training scheme planned for the day Shannan knows, so he asks her to take Damien and Laura with her so he can take the two newbies aside for an initial workout, which she’s happy to do.
He also wants to have a bit of a chat with them first, find out where they’re coming from and so on.

Kimberlie says when you weigh 180kg it’s not something you can turn around in a couple of months. She lost about 50kg for a while, but then it slowly started to come back on. Shannan has a good starting place for her now.
Chris lost a few kilos here and there but he puts it all back on each time he lets a diet go. Shannan doesn’t think he’s looked deep in his soul yet, something Shannan’s going to try and get him to do.

Now they’ve talked the talk with Shannan, it’s time to walk the walk.
First thing is some boxing and situps. Chris thinks Shannan was expecting them to be a bit weak but he was determined not to show any weakness.
Shannan loves starting with boxing because they’re so close together, he can see if they’re starting to look for a way out.
Kimberlie is asked what a comfortable jog is and she has no idea because no speed is a comfortable speed for her.
Shannan starts increasing the speed on the treadmill and she’s thinking there’d end up being a hole in the wall behind her, but she eventually gets to 13km/h, which Shannan says is very impressive for one of the girls!
Meanwhile Munnalita pokes her head in the door to spy on them and she looks rather impressed.

Shannan thinks Chris has a very competitive nature, which he thinks is a good thing.
Shannan tells him Damien does 16km/h and he’s 180kg. So Chris asks what’s the maximum, is told it’s 20km/h and says to put it on that!
Shannan says the bad news for the rest of the house is that Chris clocked the treadmill. Greg was probably the only other one who would’ve been capable of that and he’s out!
The Commando has gotten them off to a flying start, so Shannan is pretty happy with them so far.

Michelle is going to get them to train their butts off today. She wants to keep them all above the yellow line if she can.
Munnalita thinks the two new contestants have upset Michelle a bit. Michelle wants them to use their annoyance in their training.
She thinks Laura and Damien are training well.
Courtney and Munnalita are doing very well, with Munnalita probably doing better. Munnalita is very impressed with herself, as usual.
Pati and Marty are also looking good, Michelle says. Pati’s a force to be reckoned with!

Marty’s giving a lot of grunts, Michelle knows he can do the work, there’s just a lot of drama around it! Eventually Michelle crawls under him while he’s doing pushups, telling him he’s not allowed to fall on her, do 10 more!

Laura’s getting dinner ready for Damien and Kimberlie. Kimberlie’s not used to not making her own dinner.
Kimberlie says it’s kind of surreal being inside the house at last.
Courtney says he knows none of the original six want to be beaten by the newcomers, so the competition is going to heat up a lot.
Chris was kind of expecting there might’ve been punches thrown, but now he’s feeling fairly confident. He’s hoping in the next couple of days as they all get to know each other that things might improve.

“There is no best thing about having Chris and Kim in the house, I don’t want them in the house. They should go back to where they came from!” – Courtney, taking a leaf out of the Pauline Hanson book.

Kimberlie is convinced the Biggest Loser is what will finally get her to lose the weight and keep it off.

Tomorrow night’s challenge (no Temptation?) involves wood. Lots of wood. Dumptrucks full of wood! Each duo seems to be joined at the waist and have to shift two ton of fireplace type wood. “Are Kim and Chris pretenders, or the real deal?” – Mr Voiceover Man
And the newbies have to go on The Walk on Thursday. And are given some power or other. If they get to eliminate someone the howls will be heard across the land!
Then on Friday they’re redoing the raft building challenge from last year, yay! And it looks like Munnalita might be getting a dunking, ha!

(Update) Profile pages for each of the new contestants are now online. See the column to the right for links or click: Chris or Kimberlie.

Technically I’ve beaten the official site to this, as they don’t have the links up yet, though it’s where I got the info. I still claim victory, ha! :-)

(Update #2) Kimberlie’s name has now been spelt “correctly” in that it’s now spelt the way her muppet parents decided after one too many bong hits. Thanks for pointing out it was IE on the show, Susan. :)

Im starting to dislike these 2 newbies more than Munnalita and Courtney. especially Kimberlie.

    • barbara

Out of the ‘original’ contestants, they couldn’t do what the intruders have done on the outside, or they would have hired a trainer and dietician and done it. Especially those who see mars bars in every shop, cafe, petrol station, supermarket…….

    • barbara

They seem ok to me, but what about Kim’s faux-tummy-boobies!! I think Courtney is jealous of Chris’ pert little man-boobies.

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

I don’t mind them yet. Like Chris more than Kimberley but it’s a bit too soon for me to judge them yet. Really need to see how they handle a challenge or two I think!

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

The Outsiders are just like the Insiders. I think if the Insiders had been given the Outsider chance instead, all of them bar Sarah could have done it that way… And possibly Sarah may actually have done better in that environment instead.

    • Sam

Lmao, she obviously hasnt lost more than the 8kg,
either that or they are just too fucking disgusted
coz they’ve shown Alex, Sam, Kelly and Michael since than but not her.

Speaking of outside, Munalita will gain wait once she gets home,
similar to your other post; once she sees mars bars everything she learnt at the house will have gone out of the window, i can imagine that in a few years she’ll be back to 130kg or whatever she was at the start

    • Sam

ok that was a bit stupid, why didnt i just hit reply to comment…

I havent seen the whole show, but i did see Courtney giving chris daggers when he was weighing in.

    • Louise

I am starting to wonder why I am bothering to watch this anymore, it’s so bloomin frustrating! If damien and laura get booted this week just because the new ones got immunity i’ll be spewing and probably never turn it on again.

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

Yes if they’re the victims of it I’ll be very disappointed. Pati/Marty would leave me a little sad but not overly so. I want Courtney and Munnalita gone anyway. But if it happens due to immunity and not because the newbies do well, I’ll be very annoyed.

    • susanjacobs

Hey Myth, I have no idea which one is right, but on her weight-in, her name was spelt “Kimberlie”. I like your spelling better.

Okay, this is just shit. Outsiders? WTF? It was bad enough last year when the eliminated people got a chance to get back in. This just sucks. I hope they lose their immunity. Not because I want them gone, but it just isn’t fair.

Do the producers think TBL is BB? I don’t get it. Yeah, screw with their heads that is all part of the game. Fairness should be there too, and quite frankly, this isn’t fair.

I like Kimberlie’s smile though. It is a genuine, from-the-soul smile.

    • Amy

The facial expressions of the Insiders last night was just about the best thing I’ve seen all season – particularly Courtney’s eye-roll at Marty being the biggest loser so far :D

I hope the newbies lose their immunity on the walk, I really do. It’s so shit for the others. I’ve heard so many rumours that Munnalita is in the top 4, it makes me wonder which of the good ones will get kicked out instead :(

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

I’m going to have to check since it’s spelt two ways on the official site as well. *grumbles*

At least with the eliminated people it was a competition between them though. This is just two people being injected without ever having to face off against anyone. It’s not right.
I think they’re trying to inject some BB-type elements to try and lift the ratings, rather than trying to improve the quality of the show by, say, not having 5 in 20 minutes be repeats of earlier events… :-\

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

Yep, it’s Kimberlie. My, what retarded parents she has!
Will fix it now, thanks for making me check. :)

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

Yes, I’ve also heard it rumoured that Courtney makes it, which only leaves two spots for potentially cool people. Hopefully the rumourmongers are wrong though! :)

    • Donna

Your link to the official biggest loser site doesn’t work (google ad). Not sure if it’s my computer or not, though I could click on the Oprah tea one and it worked
      Cheers

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

The Google ads aren’t under my direct control in that fashion. Google displays what Google wants to display so if the link is broken it’s the fault of whoever is running that Google ad. I wouldn’t've thought the official site would be buying Google ads though.
Thanks for letting me know, but yeah, nothing I can do about it. I only have the ads on here to try and cover some of the costs involved in running my site, they’re all selected automatically based on page contents and so forth. :)

    • margaret

if pati, courtney and munnalita room together (as shown on the show) and kimberlie, marty, damien and chris are together, does that mean poor laura is left to room by herself?

    • carly the crocodile

can i just point out, that if the outsiders hadn’t been brought in, then one of the insider duos would be going home next week anyway?

since they have been brought in, i think it’s only fair that they get immunity for one week, since it’s otherwise a foregone conclusion that they’ll be going home if they fall below the yellow line.

they’re big enough sooks in the house, without everyone here sooking as well.

giving the outsiders immunity is far from the most unfair thing that’s happened. the original contestants themselves have inflicted the most unfair eliminations: alex, marty, maybe michael and maybe kelly – and let’s not forget pieta, although her elimination was a big brother style twist, so not really the contestants’ fault.

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

The newbies could’ve done like all the other contestants though and just not fallen below the yellow line.

It’s definitely not the most unfair thing that’s happened, since the introduction of the Outsiders was more unfair than them being given immunity, but basically the whole thing pretty much stinks.

Michael and Kelly’s evictions weren’t unfair – they were trying to play the game to their own ends and their teammates didn’t like it. No one but themselves to blame for it!
P’eta’s elimination was indeed very unfair, but none of it means that the introduction of the Outsiders is somehow okay because there’s been worse things inflicted on them. That’s like having someone rock up one day and shoot one of the Fatties dead, then expecting everyone to be happy when the day after they only have someone come around and chop all their right hands off. It might be a lesser offense, but it still ain’t right!

    • carly the crocodile

      ahh, stop your sooking…

i guess if the outsiders stay above the yellow line, then their immunity won’t make any difference. and they can lose their immunity anyway, if they come last in the challenge, maybe if some little thing goes wrong for them. so all hope is not lost for all you sooks out there, and in there.

i was away from the tv during the two weeks that kelly and michael got evicted. from what i’ve read, it sounded like kelly sort of deserved it, but it sounded like michael was just tarred with the same brush.

    • http://mythor.net/thebiggestloser Mythor

It’s not “sooking” to suggest the introduction of outsiders is unfair on the people who’ve been there since the beginning, especially when coupled with an automatic immunity from elimination in the first week when they weren’t made to earn it… and then to get to go on The Walk when they didn’t earn immunity?

Do you honestly think it’s fair to introduce new people this late in the game?

It’s a legitimate complaint about the manner in which the game is being run this year.
If you think this shit is fine, good for you. Keep referring to it as “sooking” though and your comments are going walkies.

    • carly the crocodile

maybe if they had have had extra outsiders training under the commando and eliminated all but two of them, then it would be more fair/less unfair. but on the other hand, under those conditions, the two outsiders who make it would likely be stronger than the ones we have now, and probably more cohesive as a team too, which this pair are not. the best two out of several outsiders would be a formidable force compared to the ones they actually got. so maybe the way the producers actually did it gives the original six the best chance after all.

but i still don’t think it’s unfair. i find kimberlie’s defense compelling, from tv week: “there’s a word that gets thrown around a lot in that house and it’s ‘deserve’. everyone thinks they ‘deserve’ something more than everyone else, when in the end it’s luck. we were all lucky to be picked out of 10,000 people. no one ‘deserves’ something more than someone else because they’ve spend an extra week living in a mansion”.

which of the final six can honestly say that they would not have taken the opportunity to be outsiders, had they missed out on a spot in the house? certainly not the same ones who complain the most, i bet.
